The New Homes Ombudsman Service (NHOS)
The New Homes Ombudsman Service (NHOS) was established in 2022 to provide independent redress for purchasers of new homes across the UK. We investigate unresolved complaints, promote fair outcomes for consumers and developers, and identify opportunities to improve quality and standards across the new homes sector.
NHOS currently provides redress services for developers signed up to the New Homes Quality Code, covering more than 65% of all privately built new homes in the UK, with ambitions to expand further across the sector. NHOS operates independently and is part of the TDS Group, a not-for-profit organisation specialising in dispute resolution services.
We are seeking to appoint two Non-Executive Directors to join our Board and contribute to the strategic leadership, governance and continued development of NHOS.
This is an exciting opportunity to support an organisation that is making a tangible difference to consumers while helping to improve standards across the housing industry. Our Non-Executive Directors play a vital role in supporting and constructively challenging the Chief Ombudsman and executive team, ensuring effective governance and helping shape the organisation's future direction.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
