Shape the future of one of the UK's most successful hospice lotteries

We're seeking Non-Executive Directors to join the St Michael's Hospice Lottery Board. Help provide strategic direction and governance for a lottery that has raised over £10 million for hospice care in Hastings and Rother.

What difference will you make?

The Hospice Lottery is a vital source of income for St Michael's Hospice, helping fund care and support for local people and the people who matter to them when they need it most.

As a Non-Executive Director, you'll help ensure the Lottery continues to thrive in an increasingly competitive environment. Through strategic oversight, challenge and support, you'll contribute to decisions that strengthen the Lottery's long-term sustainability, helping maximise the income it generates for the Hospice.

Your contribution will help the Lottery adapt to changing market conditions, identify opportunities for growth and maintain the high standards of governance, compliance and customer experience that underpin its success. In doing so, you'll be helping safeguard a significant source of funding for Hospice services both now and in the future.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference at a strategic level. The decisions made by the Lottery Board have a direct impact on the Lottery's ability to generate income, helping ensure that more local people can access compassionate end of life care and support when they need it most.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is more than a governance role. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to discussions about the future of the Lottery, helping identify opportunities for innovation, growth and development in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Your insight and perspective will help shape decisions that directly influence the Lottery's future success and impact.

The Lottery Board has a collaborative and constructive relationship with the Hospice's senior leadership team and Trustees. Board members are encouraged to contribute their expertise, ask challenging questions and bring fresh thinking that helps strengthen decision-making and supports continuous improvement.

You'll also act as an ambassador for both the Lottery and the Hospice, helping to build relationships, raise awareness and support our reputation within the community.

This is an exciting time to join the Board. The Lottery already plays a significant role in funding local hospice care, and there is real opportunity to build on its success in the years ahead. By joining us, you'll help shape the future of an organisation that makes a meaningful difference to thousands of local people and families every year.

The role requires approximately two days per quarter for Board meetings and related activity. Reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
