Aspire SEND CIC is a community interest company focused on supporting young people aged 16–25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to build confidence and independence. The organization provides personalized support, employability guidance, and life skills development to help young people prepare for adulthood and pursue meaningful opportunities. Aspire SEND CIC works closely with families, education providers, local authorities, and community partners to create inclusive pathways tailored to individual needs. Its mission is to ensure that every young person can thrive, participate fully in their community, and achieve their personal goals.

The Non Executive Director role is a volunteer, on-site position based in London. The Non Executive Director will:

- Attend board meetings
- Review strategic plans
- Provide independent oversight of Aspire SEND CIC’s vision, activities, and governance
- Offer strategic challenge and support to the leadership team
- Monitor organizational performance
- Ensure that services align with the needs of young people with SEND and their families
- Contribute to risk management, compliance, and ethical standards
- Represent Aspire SEND CIC with stakeholders
- Support fundraising and partnership development where appropriate
Qualifications
- Experience in governance, non-profit or social enterprise leadership, or board-level decision making.
- Knowledge of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), youth services, education, or social care.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and risk management abilities.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Commitment to equality, inclusion, and safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.
- Ability to interpret financial information and support sound financial oversight.
- Previous experience in fundraising, partnership development, or community outreach is beneficial.
- Willingness to commit time to regular board meetings and occasional events in London.
