Help shape the future of policing in London.

Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) is seeking to appoint Non-executive director (NED) to the MPS Management Board. This is a unique opportunity to provide independent advice, challenge and support to the senior leadership of the UK's largest police service as it continues its ambitious reform journey through the New Met for London 2 (NMfL2) programme.

Reporting to the chief strategy and investment officer, you will join a small group of highly experienced NEDs who act as trusted sounding boards to the Management Board, bringing external insight, strategic challenge and specialist expertise to support effective leadership, decision-making and organisational performance.

The Role

As a Non-executive director, you will:

  • Provide independent advice, challenge and support to the MPS Management Board.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the MPS's strategic plans and reform agenda.
  • Bring external perspectives and experience to strengthen governance and decision-making.
  • Support senior leaders in driving organisational transformation, culture change and continuous improvement.
  • Help enhance leadership effectiveness, succession planning and board capability.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Commissioner and senior leadership team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
