About Hamilton Bradshaw
Hamilton Bradshaw is a leading private equity advisory firm founded by James Caan CBE, serial entrepreneur and former investor on BBC’s Dragons’ Den.
We invest in and support ambitious management teams, providing the strategic expertise, infrastructure and network required to build and scale successful businesses.
The Opportunity
Hamilton Bradshaw is seeking an experienced renewable energy professional to join the board of a well-backed, growth-stage venture operating across distributed solar photovoltaic generation and battery energy storage systems.
The business is developing solar and battery infrastructure through long-term Power Purchase Agreements, enabling institutional customers to access renewable energy without significant upfront capital expenditure.
With established delivery partners, a substantial potential customer base and initial installations planned, the business is preparing to move from pilot deployment into a significant multi-site rollout.
This is an opportunity to help shape the strategy, governance and commercial development of a renewable energy platform at an important stage in its growth.
The Role
Working alongside the management team, investors and strategic partners, the Non-Executive Director will provide independent oversight, constructive challenge and relevant sector expertise.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Contributing to the long-term strategy and scaling plan
- Challenging the commercial model, pricing assumptions and growth targets
- Advising on solar, battery storage and Power Purchase Agreement strategy
- Supporting the transition from pilot installations to scaled deployment
- Overseeing governance, financial controls, compliance and risk
- Reviewing technology, procurement and supply-chain decisions
- Advising on capital allocation and major commercial partnerships
- Supporting relationships with suppliers, network operators, regulators and institutional customers
- Introducing relevant commercial and strategic relationships where appropriate
- Participating in quarterly board meetings and relevant committee activity

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
