With over 5,000 dedicated colleagues, Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of acute and community healthcare services to 400,000 people living across Derbyshire. Rated as Good by the CQC, we are a values-led organisation committed to providing exceptional care for the communities we proudly serve. Our new Improving Care Together strategy sets out our shared commitment to building a healthier future for our communities, strengthening our partnerships to deliver care closer to home, tackling health inequalities, and creating the conditions which will improve outcomes for the populations we serve.
Following the appointment of Jackie Smith as our outstanding new Chair earlier this year, we are now seeking three exceptional new Non-Executive Directors to join our highly committed Board. This is an exciting and pivotal time to join #TeamCRH and to provide scrutiny as we focus on delivering the ambitions of our new strategy. You will bring your experience to support our board in ensuring long-term financial sustainability, overseeing major transformation, and ensuring that we meet the challenges and opportunities presented by a rapidly evolving health and care landscape.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We are seeking leaders with a proven track record of operating at board level in large and complex environments, a strong track record of partnership working, strong governance credentials, and strategic insight. In two of these appointments, we are looking for individuals with significant financial leadership experience with the credibility to chair our Finance & Performance and Audit Committees. In the third role, we welcome candidates with broad and relevant experience of leading significant organisational transformation at board level. Whilst NHS experience is not essential, previous or current experience as a Non-Executive Director in the public, private, or not-for-profit sector is highly desirable. Above all, you should demonstrate strong alignment with our values; bringing a genuine commitment to high-quality patient care and colleague experience with an understanding of our diverse communities.
