Your Role And Responsibilities
The Full Stack Quality Engineer will support the comprehensive testing and assurance of key applications undergoing significant refactoring and migration. You will work directly with client teams and within a large IBM programme to ensure end-to-end validation throughout the migration lifecycle. This includes defining the test approach, producing high-quality test artefacts, building full-stack automation frameworks, and executing tests across UI, API, services, microservices, data, and integration layers.

In this senior role, you will design scalable automation solutions, integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with architects, developers, DevOps teams, and stakeholders. You will provide expert guidance on quality engineering practices within a complex, multi-supplier environment and support functional testers by delivering reusable automation assets that accelerate testing efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Define test approaches and quality strategies for large application refactoring and migration initiatives
- Build and maintain full-stack automation frameworks covering UI, API, services, microservices, containers, and integrations
- Create test artefacts including test plans, test scenarios, test scripts, and test data models
- Automate end-to-end test execution and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality checks
- Develop reusable automation assets to support functional and regression testing
- Execute manual and automated tests to validate application behaviour during migration
- Collaborate with developers, architects, and DevOps teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure product readiness
- Analyse defects, perform root cause analysis, and drive continuous quality improvement
- Work effectively within a multi-supplier environment, managing dependencies across teams
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and quality guidance within the programme

Preferred Education
Bachelor's Degree
Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- Strong experience designing and implementing automation across UI, API, services, and integration layers
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or C#
- Hands-on experience with automation tools (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, RestAssured, Appium, etc.)
- Strong understanding of microservices, containers, and distributed architectures
- CI/CD pipeline expertise (GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.)
- Knowledge of test modelling, scenario design, and scalable automation patterns
- Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills
- Proven ability to work confidently with cross-functional teams
This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personal Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NVS) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
- Experience testing systems migrating to AWS
- Experience working in multi-supplier or large enterprise delivery environments
- Experience testing integration points or integration-focused solutions
- Exposure to large-scale refactoring or transformation programmes
- Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers
