The individual will also help ensure that insured transactions are accurately captured, administered and managed throughout their lifecycle, working closely with Middle Office, Monitoring, Risk, Finance, Tax, Legal and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Insurance placement and execution: Execute and support NPI placements from initial market approach through insurer selection, negotiation, documentation and closing.
- Origination and structuring: Work with CIB origination and distribution teams to assess transactions for NPI and support appropriate insurance structures, considering insurer appetite, marketability, economics, pricing and execution strategy.
- Portfolio oversight and coordination: Maintain a consolidated view of the Insurance Desk’s portfolio and pipeline, working closely with Middle Office, Monitoring and relevant business teams to ensure insured transactions are accurately captured and appropriately managed following execution.
- Transaction economics and capital analysis: Support transaction teams in calculating and understanding the economics of insurance, including premium, RORC, RWA/capital benefit and relevant credit-limit impacts, working with Finance, Tax, Risk, Methodology and other stakeholders as appropriate.
- Market engagement and negotiation: Engage directly with insurers and brokers to obtain and analyse appetite, pricing and capacity and support the negotiation of commercial terms.
- Policy and transaction documentation: Review NPI policies and related documentation, ensuring that the insurance appropriately reflects the underlying finance documents and commercial transaction, and coordinate with Legal where required.
- Transaction lifecycle management: Coordinate with Middle Office and Monitoring teams throughout the life of insured transactions, including policy administration, premium payments, amendments, waivers, renewals, restructurings and claims, ensuring appropriate engagement with insurers and brokers.
- Management information and reporting: Support accurate reporting of NPI activity, including transaction volumes, insurance utilisation, insurer participation, pricing/economics and other relevant desk information, and provide relevant MI to FI Risk, FI Coverage, CIB Management and other stakeholders.
- Insurer and broker relationships: Develop relationships across the credit insurance market and maintain an up-to-date understanding of insurer appetite, capacity, pricing and market developments.
- Internal coordination and business support: Work across Front Office, Risk, Legal, Finance, Tax, Methodology, Middle Office and Monitoring teams and provide practical support to transaction teams using NPI.
- Desk development: Contribute to the continued development of the centralised Insurance Desk, including execution processes, transaction data, insurer onboarding, reporting, tools and relevant governance requirements.
- Junior talent development: Support the development of junior members of the Insurance Desk through day-to-day coaching, knowledge sharing and involvement in transactions, helping build their technical, analytical and execution capabilities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
