BBVA CIB Insurance Desk - Transaction Support Role

To provide analytical, operational, and transaction support to BBVA’s newly centralised CIB Insurance Desk, established to coordinate the use of credit insurance across Corporate & Investment Banking. The position forms part of the build-out of the new team, supporting the execution and ongoing administration of non-payment insurance (NPI) transactions across CIB.

The role will support insurer onboarding and KYC, transaction reporting and management information, documentation and transaction tracking, while working closely with Front Office, Middle Office, Monitoring, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and other internal stakeholders.

The individual will also support the execution of flow and less complex NPI transactions, providing an opportunity to develop technical insurance and transaction execution expertise over time.

Responsibilities:

  • Transaction Support and Execution

    • Support NPI transactions throughout the placement process, including preparation of market information, insurer/broker engagement, tracking responses, pricing and capacity, documentation, and closing.
  • Flow Business Execution

    • Support and, with appropriate experience, progressively take responsibility for simpler or more standardised flow NPI requests, working with transaction teams, brokers, and insurers through execution.
  • Insurer Onboarding and KYC

    • Coordinate the onboarding of insurers, brokers, MGAs, and other relevant counterparties, working with Compliance, Risk, and Legal to ensure required due diligence and approvals are completed and maintained.
  • Transaction Tracking and Pipeline Management

    • Maintain accurate records of live and completed transactions, including pipeline, insurer participation, capacity, pricing, tenor, policy status, and key execution milestones.

  • Management Information and Reporting

    • Prepare and maintain regular NPI reporting and MI for the Insurance Desk and relevant stakeholders, including transaction activity, utilisation, insurer participation, pipeline, and other relevant metrics.
  • Portfolio Data and Reconciliation

    • Work with Middle Office, Monitoring, and other teams to ensure insured transactions are accurately recorded and that desk records reconcile with relevant internal systems and reporting.
  • Documentation and NDAs

    • Support transaction documentation, including review and processing of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), maintenance of approved templates, and coordination of policy and transaction documentation with Legal and other stakeholders.
  • Transaction Economics and Analysis

    • Support analysis of insurance pricing and transaction economics, including premium calculations and, with appropriate guidance, RORC, RWA/capital benefit, and credit-limit impacts.
  • Policy Lifecycle Support

    • Track key policy requirements and events following execution, including premium payments, renewals, amendments, waivers, and other lifecycle actions, coordinating with Middle Office, Monitoring, brokers, and insurers as required.
  • Insurer and Market Information

    • Maintain relevant insurer information, including appetite, capacity, ratings, approved limits, and market developments, supporting the desk’s ability to respond efficiently to new transactions.
  • Process and Data Improvement

    • Help develop and improve the desk’s processes, reporting, data quality, templates, and tools, including identifying opportunities for automation and digitalisation.
  • Internal and External Coordination

    • Develop effective working relationships across CIB and with brokers and insurers, supporting the timely resolution of transaction, onboarding, and operational requirements.

Experience:

  • Relevant experience within banking, insurance, financial services, or a related professional environment would be advantageous.
  • Experience in credit insurance, trade finance, corporate/structured lending, credit risk, transaction banking, Middle Office, or financial analysis would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Experience working with financial data, transaction reporting, or legal documentation would be beneficial.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with a high level of proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate transaction and portfolio information.
  • Ability to organise and manage multiple transactions, deadlines, and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Interest in credit risk, banking products, insurance, and capital management.
  • Ability to understand transaction economics and develop knowledge of RORC, RWA, and regulatory capital concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Front Office, Middle Office, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to review and understand financial and legal documentation, including NDAs and transaction documents.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Ability and willingness to develop technical expertise in non-payment insurance and progressively take greater responsibility for transaction execution.
  • Spanish language skills would be advantageous.
