Lead NDT Engineer (Level 3)
Salary: £50-70,000 (DOE)
Location: Sheffield
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Level 3 NDT Supervisor to join an established, highly regulated precision engineering & manufacturing business. The business produces a range of innovative products for global export and requires a subject matter expert on site.
Responsibilities
As a Level 3 NDT Inspector and process expert, you will be responsible for interpreting customers' requirements and ensuring all work instructions and training are compliant with the relevant standards and clients' needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Establishing and approving NDT methods and techniques and supporting procedures in line with company and regulatory requirements.
- Managing the qualification and ongoing approval of a team of NDT technicians and contractors, developing training plans, and keeping records for all NDT levels and determining techniques to be applied across the product range.
- Managing relationships with Company-nominated Level 3, approved training partners, and service providers.
- Directly supporting daily operations by offering guidance on detected defects and working closely with MRB engineers to determine corrective actions.

Required Qualifications
Essential knowledge for this role includes being qualified in NDT at Level 3 in one or both of the following disciplines:
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPT)
Knowledge of other NDT techniques (Dye Pen) or welding inspection is desirable.
Additional requirements:
- Degree-educated in a relevant engineering discipline or apprenticeship plus significant relevant experience.
- Understanding of metallic components and manufacturing processes: Forging, Welding, Heat treatment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems using structured problem-solving techniques.
- Background in the manufacture of engineered products for the energy, oil & gas, aerospace, aerospace/defense sectors or similar.
