Technical and Product Manager – Cleaning and Kitchen, Laundry, Paper, Air Care
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Grocery and NEG Own Brand team in the role of Technical and Product Manager across the Own Brand categories of Cleaning and Kitchen, Laundry, Paper and Aircare in Non-Edible Grocery. Own label product development is key to our business strategy, driving quality, innovation and newness for our Asda customer to enjoy. You'll see yourself leading from the front, driving category development and taking responsibility for implementing the Trading and Own Brand product development strategy across the above NEG categories.
The Role
You'll ensure that the category delivers against their quality benchmark; that Innovation and newness is landed across your category and that Quality is maintained along with the necessary legal requirements in terms of labelling are met. You will also make sure that your suppliers comply with the Asda Technical policies throughout the product development process.
As a Technical and Product Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining product Quality for our customers, driving innovation, cost-saving and developing products across our NEG categories. You will ensure adherence to the product launch critical path, drive improvement in category product reviews and customer focused briefs alongside our trading teams.
From product sourcing plans to showcases and product launches, you will be focused on quality, product specification, labelling, legislation and cost. You will champion your category, participate in wider project work cross functionally and/or individually; and deliver in line with the broader business objectives.

About You
Passionate about quality and consistency and all things product related. You will have gained experience within a manufacturing, retailing or technology environment and have been instrumental in delivering innovative products which exceed quality standards.
- Have a science based degree or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrate strong product development/technical skills combined with a commercial understanding and passion for the customer
- Strong awareness of customer requirements, market trends and competitor ranges
- Ability to identify strategic opportunities and innovative product ideas
- A pro-active team member with strong interpersonal, organisation and management skills
- You will be able to work independently, prioritise effectively, in a fast paced retail environment and deliver to deadlines within specific timescales
- An eye for quality and detail is essential
- PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Specification systems) advantageous
- Have a working knowledge of an industry Product & Packaging specifications system
