Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and motivated NPI Test Engineer to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Test Engineer to contribute to our growing success. The New Product Innovation (NPI) Engineering Teams design and develop new peristaltic pumps and fluid path solutions for Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions. All the solutions require a variety of testing, from exploratory R&D tests to compliance and international standards tests on prototypes through to pre-production test samples. The Test Hub at our Cardrew Innovation Centre has a substantial range of test capabilities to support the NPI Engineering Team and wider business. This role will support many of the test hub tasks, including specifying, preparing, conducting, and reporting on test programs, as well as supporting equipment maintenance and calibration. This role will also involve designing and developing novel test methods and apparatus. The variety of testing procedures ensures that the role is exciting and continually progressing toward better solutions. The NPI Test Team works closely with the NPI Project Teams to contribute to the overall NPI outputs.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Lead Test Programs by following the Test Process, including writing test specifications, completing preparation tasks, executing test plans, and writing reports.
  • Manage your own time and ensure the timely completion of test programs.
  • Configure experimental apparatus, pumps, and fluid path solutions within the safe working limits.
  • Collect and store data in a controlled and secure manner, and analyze complex data sets to communicate the results in clear, understandable formats.
  • Support lab maintenance tasks, such as maintaining high water quality standards.
  • Calibrate analogue and digital transducers following traceable procedures.
  • Safely utilize metrological instruments (e.g., vernier callipers, micrometres) and hand tools (e.g., spanners).
  • Operate specialist test rigs to study specific parameters, such as torque or hydrostatic pressure (training provided).
  • Design and build custom experiment setups and test procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all WM policies, including 6S policy, OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety policy, ISO 9001 Management policy, and ISO 14001 Environmental policy.
  • Use computers daily for communication, record keeping, and data acquisition.
  • Develop and enhance the Test Hub to help develop a Fluid-Mechanics Centre of Excellence.
  • Continuously develop your professional skills with support from WM and the NPI Test Manager.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
