Join the UK’s specialist Tree Law firm
Tree Law is looking for an ambitious Newly Qualified Associate Solicitor or experienced Legal Executive to join our growing team in Barry.
We are a specialist law firm working at the point where trees, people and property meet. Our work is unusual, technically interesting and increasingly high profile. We act for insurers, property owners, developers, housing associations, local authorities and other organisations across the UK on disputes and advisory work involving trees, land and property.
We are now looking for another lawyer to grow with us.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than simply becoming another junior lawyer within a large team. You will work closely with experienced solicitors, have meaningful involvement in matters from an early stage and develop expertise within a distinctive and developing area of law.
What will you be doing?
The role will involve a broad range of contentious and advisory work, including:
- tree root subsidence and property damage claims;
- nuisance, negligence and property disputes involving trees;
- Tree Preservation Orders and Conservation Areas;
- planning and development issues involving trees;
- disputes involving neighbouring landowners;
- claims involving local authorities and housing associations;
- insurance-related disputes and advisory work;
- forestry and land management issues;
- pre-action correspondence and litigation;
- legal research into developing areas of tree, environmental and property law; and
- working with technical experts including arboriculturists, engineers, surveyors and other professionals.
You will be given responsibility for your own matters as your experience develops, while working closely with and being supported by senior members of the team.

Who are we looking for?
You may already have experience in property litigation, civil litigation, insurance, planning, environmental law or another related area – but previous experience of tree law is not required.
We are looking for either:
- a solicitor qualified in England and Wales, ideally newly qualified or at an early stage in their career; or
- an experienced Legal Executive with relevant litigation, property, insurance, planning or related experience.
What matters most is that you are:
- intellectually curious and interested in developing specialist expertise;
- commercially aware and able to understand what matters to clients;
- a strong written communicator;
- confident dealing with clients and other professionals;
- organised and comfortable taking responsibility for your work;
- interested in litigation, property and the interaction between law and the natural environment; and
- enthusiastic about joining a growing specialist business and helping to shape its future.
We particularly value people who are willing to ask questions, challenge conventional thinking and find practical solutions.
