Fixed Term Time Contract of 18 months
Salary: Band 4 Annex 21
Year 1 - first 6 months 70% of Band 4 or Scottish Living Wage, whichever is highest
Year 2 – remaining 12 months 75% of Band 4 or Scottish Living Wage, whichever is highest
NHS Grampian Dental Services in partnership with Aberdeen Dental Hospital are looking to recruit for the post of Trainee Dental Nurse.

Successful candidates will be working alongside dentists, hygienists, therapists and dental students in busy clinical environments as well as participating in a theory-based training programme.
This 18-month fixed term time training contract will equip successful candidates with the knowledge, training and practical experience required to meet the necessary standards within the Qualification Scotland SVQ and PDA Dental Nursing qualifications. Gaining these recognised qualifications and entering onto the professional register with the General Dental Council are the first steps on the career pathway within the dental nursing care profession.

As self-directed study is a major component of the training programme, it is essential that candidates possess a high level of commitment and willingness to study. A flexible and adaptable approach to work pattern and locations are essential.
Applications are based on the applicant’s suitability for the training programme, including qualifications, experience and potential for development. Entry onto the dental nurse training course requires candidates to possess a minimum of 3 National Grade level or equivalent qualifications, to include English and a Science.

Hours
Full-time 36 hours per week (Monday – Thursday 8.30am to 4.30pm and Friday 8.30am to 2.30pm). Due to this being a training establishment, this post will be on a term-time contract over 18-months fixed term. Leave during this fixed term-time will be 8 weeks in total at specific times during the contract.
