Band 6 Bowel Screening/Endoscopy Pre-assessment Team Leader
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated healthcare professional to join NHS Grampian as a Team Leader for the Bowel Screening/Endoscopy Pre-Assessment Service. This is a full time (36 hours/week) permanent contract.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to lead our established Bowel Screening and Endoscopy Telephone Pre-Assessment Team based at Ashgrove House on the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary campus. This is a rewarding leadership role within a highly respected service that supports patients across the North East of Scotland who require gastrointestinal investigations, including those referred through the Urgent Suspected Cancer Pathway and the Scottish Bowel Screening Programme. The department operates Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 18:00 and is supported by a dedicated multidisciplinary team including Gastroenterologists, GI surgeons, Clinical Endoscopists, Specialty Clinicians and Service Managers.
Responsibilities
As Team Leader, you will provide day-to-day operational leadership for the Endoscopy Pre-Assessment Team, ensuring delivery of a high-quality, patient-centred telephone assessment service. You will support the professional development of staff, promote clinical excellence, and work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive safe, timely and effective care.
You will oversee the assessment and preparation of patients undergoing gastrointestinal investigations, ensuring robust clinical decision-making and adherence to service standards. The role also requires close collaboration with Clinical Endoscopists, Medical Staff, Service Managers and administrative colleagues to support patient pathways and service improvement initiatives.
In addition to maintaining your own clinical caseload, you will act as a senior resource for the team, providing expert advice, managing complex patient assessments and supporting the resolution of operational challenges.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
