📍 Location: Bracknell, Berkshire
💰 Pay Rate: £15.16 per hour
📅 Contract: 6-Month Contract
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and detail-oriented NSPP Technician to join a leading agricultural research and breeding programme. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for plant science, horticulture, or agriculture who enjoys working in a hands-on glasshouse environment.
The successful candidate will support the production of wheat and barley breeding materials through a range of glasshouse and seed processing activities. Working within a collaborative team, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient delivery of plant production and breeding operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a range of daily glasshouse activities including:
- Seed sowing
- Cross-pollination
- Plantlet transplanting
- Tissue sampling
- Plant harvesting and threshing
- Perform seed processing activities, including:
- Seed cleaning
- Automated seed counting
- Seed labelling and registration
- Assist with monitoring pests and diseases within the glasshouse environment.
- Maintain accurate plant tracking records and support data analysis processes.
- Adhere to all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) procedures and standards.
- Support the wider team in delivering breeding and production targets.

Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working within a horticultural, agricultural, nursery, or plant production environment.
- Understanding of plant growth, care, and cultivation within a glasshouse setting.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and consistently.
- Reliable, enthusiastic, and eager to learn.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and undertaking manual handling activities when required.

Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Biological Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Plant Sciences, Horticulture, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in a glasshouse environment is highly desirable.
- Experience working within a small team environment.
- PA1 and PA6 certifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
