Make a meaningful contribution to nuclear safety across the UK

The role

This is a varied and rewarding inspector role, offering the opportunity to work across the nuclear sector, from new build through to decommissioning. You could undertake site inspections, assess safety submissions, lead interventions and investigations, support research and help develop the next generation of inspectors.

A key focus of the role will be Leadership and Management for Safety (LMFS), working closely with licensees and dutyholders to strengthen organisational capability and promote a positive nuclear safety culture. You'll bring learning from across the nuclear and other sectors to help organisations improve their approach to safety.

Licensing adds another dimension to the role, providing opportunities to work with prospective and existing licensees on new facilities, replacement licences and delicensing. You'll provide regulatory guidance, scrutinise licence applications and work collaboratively with a wide range of specialists and stakeholders.

About you

You'll bring:

• An in-depth understanding and experience of applying LMFS principles, including awareness of nuclear site licence requirements and recognised standards and approaches.
• Experience influencing at all levels within an organisation, from Board and Executive through to frontline, with an understanding of the factors that determine organisational behaviour.
• Knowledge of one or more nuclear or high-hazard facilities, such as pressurised water reactors, advanced gas-cooled reactors or high-hazard processing plants.
• The ability to assimilate, analyse and provide clear judgements on new and complex technical issues.
• Strong communication, decision-making and influencing skills, with the ability to see the bigger picture and prioritise work based on risk.
