THE OPPORTUNITY – NUI MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN
The NUI Mechanical Technician undertakes routine engineering maintenance and defect repair tasks to ensure the reliability and scheduled availability of operational plant and equipment associated with gas production/processing and condensate storage.
- Duration: 12-month contract - Core role required until Cease of Production (est 2028)
- Location: Offshore
- Rotation/Hours: 2 weeks on/3 weeks off working a 12-hour day
- Pay Range: £400 - £450 PAYE per day
- Overtime: Payable at 1.25% per hour
- Crew Change: Blackpool
- Travel Allowance: No travel allowance payable for mobilisation
AND NOW FOR THE TECHNICAL BIT…
Once in role, you will be accountable for:
- Executes routine and on-routine maintenance activities to plant and equipment in accordance with agreed procedures and operational requirements to ensure the protection of plant, equipment and the safety of employees.
- Investigates complex technical problems relating to critical plant, identifies solutions and acts to return plant to normal operating service.
- Prepares and presents technical reports and maintains appropriate records of activities within the recognised systems in order to maintain an accurate record of activities undertaken for the benefit of future analysis and third-party audit.
- Carries out commissioning and decommissioning activities to ensure planned plant operating programmes are achieved in a timely manner.
- Contributes to the design and commissioning of plant modifications including the initiation of recommendations for modifications to ensure the ongoing availability of plant and equipment.
- Supervises other staff and vendor/contractor employees in undertaking particular work activities to ensure that activities are undertaken safely and efficiently in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Ensures that safe working practices and procedures are adhered to within the area of work, and that appropriate permitry is in place to ensure the protection of plant, equipment and the safety of employees.
- Performs nominated emergency response role/duties and maintain the necessary competencies to perform these duties.
- Proactively maintains their technical and interpersonal skills and competencies, ensuring capabilities are up to date and in line with industry/functional best practice and that behaviours are in line with Spirit’s core Values. Understand the skills, competencies and behaviours required for their role.
- Collaborates effectively, adapting their behaviour and communication as needed to get the best from others. Effectively promotes ideas and opinions and is able to influence others in a constructive way. Maintains good relationships across all organisation levels.

ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Several years of electrical offshore experience in the E&P industry
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- BTEC Ordinary Certificate or equivalent in an appropriate engineering subject is necessary to provide the requisite underpinning knowledge.
- Current valid Offshore Survival, Offshore Medical and MIST
- Demonstrable experience in petrochemical process operations or maintenance
- Sound understanding of engineering principles
- The inherent hazards of operating in this nature and the substances involved require the job holder to possess a thorough knowledge of procedures and the process systems to ensure the ongoing integrity of health, safety and environmental performance.
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written
- Carry out duties of level 3 Crane Driver when suitably trained
- Trained in areas such as firefighting, the use of self-contained breath apparatus, coxswain (offshore), first aid etc to enable them to be part of an Emergency Response Team

Technical Certs required:
- TMJI10: Hand Torque Flanged Joints
- TMJI19: Hydraulically Torque Flanged Joints
- SBT02 – Small bore tubing
Preferable Additional Competence for NUI operations
- ERTM
- HAD
- Coxswain
- Crane Operator Stage 2 with Stage 3 preferable
