About Siemens Digital Industries Software
Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
Position Overview
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Numerical Software Engineer Intern to join our geometric modelling team for a year-long industrial placement from July 2027 to August 2028. You will contribute to the development, testing and maintenance of a 3D boundary representation (B-rep) geometric solid modelling kernel used in advanced engineering and CAD applications. This is an excellent opportunity to apply mathematical and numerical knowledge to challenging real-world software problems while gaining experience in a professional development environment.
What You Will Be Doing
- Design, implement and maintain robust numerical algorithms for 3D solid modelling.
- Develop and enhance functionality within a boundary representation geometric modelling kernel.
- Investigate and resolve issues involving geometric accuracy, robustness, performance and edge cases.
- Write clear, efficient and maintainable production code, supported by appropriate unit and regression tests.
- Use debugging, profiling and code-review tools as part of a collaborative software development workflow.
- Work with experienced software engineers, mathematicians and application specialists to understand requirements and deliver reliable solutions.
- Contribute to work that uses AI to develop intelligent engineering tools and apply intelligent analysis to test logs, helping to identify patterns, diagnose issues and improve software quality.
- Document technical approaches, design decisions and test results clearly.
What You Should Bring
- Enrolled on a course that includes a year-long industrial placement.
- Sound knowledge of vector algebra and the ability to apply it to three-dimensional problems.
- Programming experience in C, C++ or another high-level programming language.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with careful attention to numerical accuracy and detail.
- Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Curiosity, initiative and a willingness to learn unfamiliar mathematical and software concepts.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
