Job Description
As a Nurse Assessor/Functional Specialist at Capita HAAS (Health Assessment Advisory Service), you’ll leverage your clinical expertise and analytical skills in a new way:
- Meet with benefits claimants (in person or via video link)
- Write in-depth reports
- Provide clinical recommendations
- Enjoy a structured, flexible, and shift-free working environment
Location: Clinic-based across Wales, with a hybrid working model.

- Starting salary: £39,500 (rising to £40,500 after DWP approval)

Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Conduct structured in-person, video, or phone assessments (up to 3/day)
- Evaluate daily living impacts due to health conditions
- Gather evidence (observation, listening, empathetic note-taking)
- Prepare detailed reports (3,000–4,000 words) underpinned by clinical justification
- Support the DWP in fair, evidence-based decisions
- Continuously update knowledge across a range of chronic conditions
About You
- NMC-registered Nurse (RIA/NMN/RNLD) with a valid PIN and no current restrictions
- At least 1 year’s post-registration experience
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills
- Fast-working, target-conscious with adaptable IT (Microsoft Office + remote learning)
- Fully’observational empathy to listen, empathise, and dig deeper
- Driving licence or reliable transport for clinic needs

Security & Compliance
All candidates must pass government baseline personnel security vetting (standardised pre-employment check).
As a regulated activity role, enhanced criminal record disclosures (including spent convictions) are required under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006.
