Job Description

As a Nurse Assessor/Functional Specialist at Capita HAAS (Health Assessment Advisory Service), you’ll apply your clinical skills in a shifts away from frontline care for an impactful but distinct role:

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with benefit claimants in-person or via video link to gather clinical information
  • Produce in-depth, detailed reports (3,000–4,000 words) and deliver clear clinical analyses
  • Support critical decision-making for the Northern Ireland Department for Communities (DfC) and maintain a structured, fulfilling work format
  • Expand expertise across range of conditions and functional impact assessments

What We Offer

Workplace Structure

  • ** Hybrid schedule (up to 2 days at home per week) ** – balancing clinic and company-based assessment
  • **Monday–Friday (8:00 AM–5:00 PM) ** with no weekends or overnight shifts (occasional 8 PM finishes possible)
  • Allocated from 3 to full-time hours (min) per week

Compensation

  • **Starting salary: £39,500 rising to £40,500 **
  • Performance bonus: 10% of salary (based on report quality/performance)
  • Full contractual benefits package

Key Responsibilities

✔ Clinical consultancy skills (empathy, comprehensive clinical assessments and reporting) ✔ Delegating proficiency (formulating substantial evidence-based analysis to support DfC decisions) ✔ Continuous professional development (expanding knowledge across chronic conditions, restrictions & mandibular impact assessments)


Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • NMC-registered nurse (GRN, RGMN or RNLD) with an active PIN and no restrictions
  • Minimum 1 year of post-registration clinical experience
  • Licence or reliable transport for physical assessments when required

  • Confidently putting reports with clarity and empirical accuracy
  • Prior exposure to Microsoft Office & quick adoption of new software

  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Universal Credit (UC)

Security & Compliance

  • Government clearance (BPSS Level v1) – background checks will be required
  • Advanced DBA (Disclosure and Barring Service) – role involves regulated activity with children or vulnerable adults
