The Role
You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.
As a Nurse Practitioner within Ophthalmology Outpatients at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a key role in delivering specialist care to patients receiving sight-preserving treatments for a range of ophthalmic conditions. Working across a dynamic and evolving service, you will utilise advanced clinical skills, provide expert advice and support patients throughout their treatment journey. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Part-time, Permanent
- You will be based at Gartnavel General Hospital
- Working Pattern: Monday - Friday
Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert clinical care and advice to patients receiving intravitreal anti-VEGF and steroid treatments
- Undertake training and competency development in the administration of intravitreal injections in line with NHSGGC policies
- Assess, support and educate patients, families and carers before, during and after treatment
- Make autonomous clinical decisions and contribute to effective patient management within the multidisciplinary team
- Ensure informed consent is obtained and maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
- Participate in clinical audit, service improvement initiatives and research activities to support high-quality patient care
- Maintain clinical excellence through evidence-based practice, professional development and ongoing learning

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job:
- First level nursing qualification with current NMC registration
- Significant or relevant experience within an ophthalmology setting
- Evidence of continuous professional development and up-to-date ophthalmology knowledge
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support and reassure patients
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to work autonomously
- Flexible approach with the ability to work across multiple NHSGGC sites as required
- Ophthalmic Nursing Qualification or willingness to undertake further specialist education is desirable
