Passionate about fresh food, creativity and making mealtimes magical for little ones?

At Nurtured Childcare, we’re looking for a special someone to create some culinary magic in our nursery kitchen at Packmoor. If you love cooking nutritious, fresh meals and enjoy creating exciting food experiences for children, we’d love to hear from you!

📍 Location: Packmoor
🕘 Hours: 40 hours per week – 8am-4pm

The Role:

As our Nursery Chef, you’ll be responsible for creating fresh, nutritious and exciting meals and snacks for our children. You’ll have the freedom to bring your creativity into the kitchen while ensuring every meal meets the individual dietary and nutritional needs of our children.

Think colourful vegetables, homemade meals, exciting flavours and plenty of opportunities for little ones to discover something new!

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Plan and prepare fresh, balanced and nutritious meals and snacks.
  • Develop menus that support children’s health, wellbeing and development.
  • Cater safely for allergies, dietary requirements and individual nutritional needs.
  • Introduce children to a wide range of flavours, ingredients and cuisines from around the world.
  • Make food fun and engaging through creative presentation and child-friendly recipes.
  • Support children in developing positive relationships with food.
  • Work closely with the nursery team to make mealtimes a fun and social experience.
  • Support children with their own culinary experiences and cooking activities.
  • Encourage children to grow their own vegetables and learn where food comes from.
  • Promote sustainability through recycling, reducing food waste and making environmentally conscious choices.
  • Maintain excellent food hygiene and kitchen safety standards.
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organised and ready for the next day’s culinary adventures.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for someone who combines culinary skills with creativity, patience and a genuine love of working around young children.

Essential

  • Previous professional cooking or catering experience.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements.
  • Understanding of allergies and dietary requirements.
  • Ability to prepare fresh, nutritious and balanced meals.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A genuine passion for cooking and creating exciting food experiences.
  • A warm, patient and positive approach to working around young children.

Desirable

  • Experience working as a nursery or school chef.
  • Experience developing menus for young children.
  • Interest or experience in growing vegetables and sustainable food practices.
  • Relevant food hygiene or catering qualifications.
