To maintain a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety throughout the childrenâs nursery, ensuring a clean, healthy, and welcoming environment for children, staff, and visitors in line with health and safety regulations and early years standards.
âKey Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitise all nursery rooms, including play areas, sleep rooms, and learning spaces following guided sheets
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect toilets, washrooms, and nappy-changing areas
- Clean kitchens and food preparation areas in line with food hygiene standards
- Wash, disinfect, and store cleaning equipment safely after use
- Empty bins and safely dispose of waste and recycling
- Clean floors (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming) and surfaces daily
- Clean high-touch points such as door handles, light switches and mirrors
- Replenish soap, paper towels, toilet roll, and other hygiene supplies
- Follow colour-coded cleaning systems and COSHH guidelines
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or damaged equipment
- Ensure cleaning chemicals are stored securely and out of childrenâs reach
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the nursery environment at all times

âRequirements
Essential...
- Previous cleaning experience (preferably in a childcare, school, or healthcare setting)
- Good understanding of hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
- Attention to detail
Desirable...
- Knowledge of COSHH and infection control procedures
- Experience working in a nursery, school, or similar environment
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
