Job Description
Pay: £12.71 per hour, 3 hours per day
Nursery Cleaner
Location: Pontcanna, Cardiff | Permanent / Part-time
Are you reliable, hardworking and looking for a hands-on role that supports a happy, safe nursery environment?
At Green Giraffe Nursery, we believe a clean, welcoming space is the foundation for children to learn, play and grow. We are recruiting a dedicated Nursery Cleaner to join our Pontcanna team and help maintain high standards of hygiene, safety and presentation across the setting.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys routine tasks and wants to contribute to a nurturing environment for children and staff.
About the Role
As a Nursery Cleaner, you will ensure communal and learning areas are clean, safe and well maintained. You will work closely with the nursery team to follow cleaning schedules and infection-control procedures, creating an environment where children can thrive.

Your key responsibilities will include:
- Cleaning and sanitising rooms, toilets, play equipment, fixtures and fittings
- Following daily and deep-clean schedules to maintain hygiene standards
- Emptying bins, laundering soft furnishings and keeping storage areas tidy
- Reporting maintenance issues, hazards or concerns to the nursery manager
- Adhering to infection control procedures, COSHH and safe use of cleaning materials
- Supporting the team during busy periods and ensuring minimal disruption to children’s routines
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a punctual and dependable colleague with a positive, can-do approach.
You’ll need:
- Previous cleaning experience, preferably in a childcare, school or healthcare setting
- Understanding of basic hygiene and infection-control practices
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks
- Ability to follow instructions, complete checklists and manage time effectively
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references

Working Pattern
- Permanent, part-time (hours to be discussed; mornings and early afternoons available)
- Monday to Friday shifts
- Flexible working where possible to suit nursery needs
