Job Description

Pay: £12.71 per hour, 2 hours per day
Position: Nursery Cleaner
Location: Weston-super-Mare, Somerset
Position Type: Part-time / Permanent

Are you reliable, hardworking and proud of maintaining clean, safe spaces? We are looking for a dedicated Nursery Cleaner to join our team in Weston-super-Mare. You’ll help create a welcoming, hygienic environment where children, families and staff can feel safe and comfortable.

About the Role

As a Nursery Cleaner, you will be responsible for the daily cleaning and upkeep of the nursery premises. Your work will directly contribute to the health, safety and wellbeing of the children and staff by ensuring high standards of hygiene are maintained throughout the setting.

  • Carrying out daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting of all areas
  • Cleaning and sanitising toilets, nappy changing areas and sinks in line with hygiene procedures
  • Wiping down toys, equipment and surfaces using appropriate cleaning products
  • Emptying bins and ensuring waste is disposed of responsibly, including nappies and clinical waste where applicable
  • Reporting any maintenance issues, damage or potential hazards to the manager promptly
  • Maintaining cleaning supplies stock and requesting replacements when needed
  • Working flexibly with the nursery team to ensure cleaning is completed with minimal disruption to children’s routines

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone reliable, thorough and approachable who takes pride in their work.

You’ll need:

  • Previous experience in cleaning or janitorial work (experience within a nursery or school is desirable but not essential)
  • Good attention to detail and a high standard of cleanliness
  • Basic understanding of safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Good communication skills and a polite, professional manner
  • Flexibility to work mornings, afternoons or school-term hours as required
  • Willingness to undertake training, including health & safety and safeguarding awareness

Working Pattern

Position Type: Part-time, permanent role
Shifts: Available Monday to Friday; hours to be discussed at interview
Flexibility: Occasional flexibility required for deep-clean days or staff cover
