Role Description
The Nursery Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Handsworth, Birmingham, responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the nursery and ensuring a safe, stimulating environment for children. The role involves:
- Managing staff schedules
- Leading and supporting the team
- Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, hygiene, and childcare practice
- Planning and monitoring educational activities
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality frameworks
- Maintaining accurate records related to children, staff, and the nursery’s operations

- Communicating regularly with parents and caregivers, handling inquiries, and addressing concerns with professionalism
- Overseeing nursery resources and budgets
- Supporting staff training and development
- Promoting a positive, inclusive culture that reflects the nursery’s values
Qualifications
- Strong safeguarding and safeguarding children skills, with a solid understanding of child protection policies and procedures.
- Experience in nursery and nursery management, including day-to-day operational oversight and staff coordination.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, staff, and external partners.
- Relevant childcare or early years education qualifications (e.g., Level 3 or above in Early Years, Childcare, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of early years curriculum, health and safety standards, and regulatory requirements for childcare settings.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities in a childcare or educational environment.
- Confidence using basic digital tools and record-keeping systems to manage documentation and communication.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within a nursery or similar early years setting is highly beneficial.
