Role Description

The Nursery Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operational management of a nursery within the Tiddlywinks Nursery Group. This full-time, hybrid role is based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom, with core responsibilities carried out on-site and some administrative work performed from home. Key tasks include overseeing safeguarding practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory and health and safety requirements, and maintaining high standards of care and education. The Nursery Manager leads and supports the nursery team, manages staffing schedules, conducts supervision and performance reviews, and fosters a positive, inclusive environment for children, families, and colleagues. The role also involves managing admissions, maintaining accurate records, liaising with families and external partners, monitoring budgets, and implementing improvement plans aligned with the organization’s goals.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong safeguarding and safeguarding children skills, with up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice.
  • Candidates should possess experience working in a nursery setting, with a solid understanding of early years education and care.
  • Candidates should possess nursery management capabilities, including staff leadership, operational oversight, and compliance management.
  • Candidates should possess effective communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with children, families, staff, and external agencies.
  • Relevant qualifications in early years education or childcare (e.g., Level 3 or above in Early Years or Childcare, or equivalent) are beneficial.
  • Experience in managing or supervising teams in an early years or educational environment is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, are desirable.
  • A commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practice and ongoing professional development is expected.
