Position: Nursery Nurse

Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Temporary

Start Date: 8th September 2026

Location: Southwark, London, UK

Salary: £90 – £110 per day

Daily rate is dependent on experience, qualifications, and relevant training. Higher rates within the band are reserved for candidates with a relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification and experience supporting children with additional needs. Pay is determined in line with setting expectations and the Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

Hours of work: 8.30am – 3.30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only).

About the Role:

We are recruiting on behalf of an inclusive Early Years setting in Southwark for a caring, adaptable Nursery Nurse to support children aged 2 to 5, including children with additional needs, on a full-time, long-term temporary basis. The setting has a genuinely inclusive ethos, working closely with external professionals such as speech and language therapists and the local SEND team to ensure every child is supported to reach their potential.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS framework
  • Supporting children with additional needs, including those with an EHCP, on a 1:1 or small-group basis
  • Acting as key person for a small group of children, building trusted relationships with children and families
  • Observing, assessing and recording childrens development and learning journeys
  • Working alongside external professionals such as SALT, OT and the local SEND team where required
  • Maintaining a safe, calm and stimulating learning environment
  • Following safeguarding and health & safety procedures at all times

Requirements:

To be eligible for this role and the stated rate of pay, applicants must have:

  • A relevant Early Years qualification (Level 2 or 3, e.g. CACHE, NVQ) or equivalent
  • Experience working in a nursery, pre-school or EYFS classroom
  • Experience or a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs
  • Sound knowledge of the EYFS framework and safeguarding procedures
  • The right to work in the UK
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one)
