Job Opportunity: Nursery Practitioner

A highly regarded independent school in Central London is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Nursery Practitioner to join its Early Years team.

Please read the information in this job post thoroughly to understand exactly what is expected of potential candidates.

The successful Nursery Practitioner will work closely with the Room Lead to support the day-to-day running of the Nursery and provide high-quality care, learning and pastoral support to children. You will play an important role in creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where every child feels valued, supported and encouraged to reach their potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Room Lead with the day-to-day running of the classroom.
  • Help children settle and support personal care routines, including toileting and handwashing.
  • Encourage children's independence, development and positive behaviour.
  • Prepare refreshments and maintain a clean, tidy and well-organised classroom.
  • Assist with activities, craft sessions, displays and learning resources.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Support children's learning and development in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Attend staff meetings, training days, parents' evenings and other school events as required.
  • Undertake pastoral and supervisory duties and contribute to the wider life of the school.
  • Always promote and safeguard the safety and wellbeing of children.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Level 3 qualification or above in Childcare/Early Years.
  • Experience working within an EYFS setting.
  • Good understanding of child development, safeguarding and children's wellbeing.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both adults and children.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and contribute effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexible, adaptable, committed and reliable.
  • Creative, enthusiastic and keen to learn.
  • Good attendance and timekeeping record.
  • A positive attitude and good sense of humour.
  • Degree or equivalent would be desirable.
