Nursery Practitioner

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Nursery Practitioner to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and experience working with children in a nursery setting. As a Nursery Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and education for young children, fostering their development and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment.

The position is Monday to Friday Term Time Only working within the three-year provision.

Job Description

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Have a warm, smiling face that makes every child feel valued.
  • Be able to laugh at jokes you don't understand.
  • Provide comfort and warmth to a poorly child.
  • If a child requests that you be a captain of a pirate ship, you will be the best pirate captain you can be!
  • Have a willingness to sing. The ability to sing in tune is not necessary, however, the ability to sing out of tune in front of a crowd is essential. As is dancing to all types of music!
  • Ability to write legibly and good written presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of how children grow, change, and learn from birth to five.
  • Possess the skills required to rapidly count the heads of numerous moving small people is of the utmost importance.
  • Be able to realistically drink numerous cups of pretend tea.
  • Make written observations and plan next steps for individuals and groups of children’s learning and development.
  • Provide great physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care.
  • Have the ability to read a ten-page fairy tale, upside down, with at least four interruptions per page.
  • Be prepared to have lots of fun in the workplace. Laughter is something you can expect to engage in for a large part of your working day.
  • Be prepared to feel loved, special, and important to many young children and their families. There is simply no other job quite like this one.

Requirements

  • A qualification in Early Childhood Education or equivalent is essential.
  • Previous experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage groups of children effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills in English to engage with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
  • Ability to drive initiatives that enhance the learning experience within the nursery setting.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of care and education at all times.
