Nursery Room Leader in Islington, London
£31-34k (experience and qualifications dependent)
Location: Islington, London EC1V.
Working pattern: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Nursery is open 7:30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
Our client is an established nursery group with over 20 years in early years childcare, running a family of individual day nurseries across the UK. They're looking for a Nursery Room Leader to take charge of the Over 2s room at their Islington nursery, leading a small team and shaping the daily experience for children aged 2+.
This is a beautiful setting that blends modern design with a genuinely homely feel, with bright rooms, sensory play zones, cosy story corners and a child-led curriculum built around curiosity and independence. It's a role where a confident Room Leader can make an immediate, visible difference to the children and team in their room, backed by owners and leaders who genuinely care about their people and have real plans to grow.

Key responsibilities:
- Room leadership: Manage the day-to-day running of the Over 2 room, setting the standard for good practice and being a positive role model for the team.
- Safety and wellbeing: Keep children's safety and wellbeing at the centre of everything, so every child enjoys the very best experience each day.
- Curriculum and play: Plan and lead a fun, busy day of activities in line with the EYFS framework and following the children's interests.
- Key person role: Take ownership of observations, assessments and planning for key children, making sure every child's individual needs are met.
- Team support: Support colleagues in the room to complete planning, milestones and observations to a high standard.
- Parent partnerships: Build warm, trusting relationships with parents and carers, including supporting families with any SEND needs.
About you:
- Qualified: A full and relevant Level 3 (or above) early years qualification.
- Experienced: Solid experience caring for early years children, ideally including children aged 2+, and a real passion for child development.
- EYFS knowledge: An in-depth understanding of the EYFS framework and how to bring it to life through play.
- Safeguarding: Detailed knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Team player: Strong communication skills and a genuine belief in the positive impact good nursery provision has on children, families and future generations.
