Career Opportunities

Nurses

As a Correctional Nurse (LPN or RN), you will provide healthcare to incarcerated individuals, including assessments, treatments, and health education. Duties include administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and collaborating with physicians. You will work in a high-security correctional facility, where healthcare is integrated into daily operations, with shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualification

  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted Virginia nursing license.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers with current certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with inmates, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Solid clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities to address a wide variety of medical conditions, emergencies, and mental health concerns in a correctional setting.
  • Emotional resilience to manage stressful or potentially dangerous situations in a correctional environment.
  • Physical endurance to work long shifts and handle physically demanding situations.
