Job Description

Responsibilities

The post holder will:

  • Work under the Direction of a Registered Practitioner to deliver care in accordance with Clinical Competencies outlined in Band 2/3 Clinical Skills Matrix to assist the nurse in providing high quality care.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that all Clinical Competencies are kept up to date in line with mandatory training for Band 2/3. (See Appendix 2)
  • Have the equivalent of NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or working towards) and identifying any further training need.
  • Contribute to role development in response to patient and service needs.

Key Duties

  • Undertake the role of caring for a group of patients through indirect and direct supervision by a registered nurse to aid in the deliverance of all aspects of care in a safe and timely manner in a clinic setting or in a patient’s own home.
  • Act as a role model providing guidance and support to Trainee and Band 2 Nursing Assistants as required, helping to ensure the efficient and effective running of the service at all times.
  • Independently plan and undertake tasks and workload activities in both clinic settings and patient’s own homes whilst ensuring that their practice is guided by standard operating procedures and established protocols. They will demonstrate self-directed development, recognising own limitations, and work within the scope of their role at all times.
  • Prioritise own workload and be responsible for planned care and tasks delegated from a registered nurse.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and legibly at the point of care delivery and any necessary escalation is undertaken to a registered nurse to ensure patient safety is maintained.
