Job Description
Responsibilities
- Must be courteous to patients, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Transports patients via wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Identifies and locates needed accessories to facilitate transport.
- Monitors vital signs, oxygen saturation, weights, and performs non-invasive specimen collection.
- Answers call lights.
- Makes beds both empty and occupied.
- Turns and positions patients, assists with range of motion, ambulation, and toiletry.
- Provides assistance with all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and completes care as needed.
- Sets up, assists, and educates patients with commodes, bedpans, urinals, sitz baths, walkers, wheelchairs, slings, knee mobilizes, knee immobilizers, trapeze, venodyne boots, crutches, and specific precautions.
- Appropriately empties and/or records all drainage devices.
- Sets up all equipment routinely used on their home base units.
- Prepares room for admission.
- Removes linens.
- Performs light maintenance defined as not needing tools and within the patient rooms.
- Stocks the floor pantry.
- Answers telephone.
- Must wear facility-provided identification badge.
- Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested by immediate supervisor.

Qualifications
Nursing Assistant/Transport, Trainee (Apprenticeship Program) – Grade FHS5, Job Code: 00446
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Obtain BLS Certification upon completion of the Apprenticeship Program.
- The Nursing Assistant Registered Apprenticeship Program includes:
- A classroom curriculum with an accredited Nursing Assistant Program.
- On-the-job training.
- Must successfully complete the Program within 6 months of hire into the Trainee role.
- Upon completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship Program, incumbent will transfer into the Nursing Assistant, Grade FHS5A, Job Code: 00339.
Nursing Assistant/Transport, Will-Train – Grade FHS5, Job Code: 00445
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Obtain BLS Certification upon completion of the Will-Train program.
- Upon completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Will-Train program, successful passage of the Falmouth Hospital written competency exam for Nursing Assistant.
- Upon completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Will-Train program, incumbent will transfer into the Nursing Assistant, Grade FHS5A, Job Code: 00339.

Nursing Assistant/Transport – Grade FHS5A, Job Code: 00339
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Must meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant Program.
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
- Successful completion of an EMT Program.
- Successful completion of an LPN Program.
- Equivalent clinical Military experience.
- Completed at least one year of an accredited Nursing School Program.
- Successful completion of the Falmouth Hospital Nursing Assistant Will-Train or Trainee program.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification.
- Successful passage of CPI training within 6 months from hire and must maintain recertification annually.
