Nursing Home Turnaround & Quality Assurance Director – 2 Days Per Week (£500/Day)
(Note: This is a functional, operational title. It does not carry a statutory appointment at Companies House).
Location:
Nursing Home, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire (Excellent road links via M6 / A50)
Engagement Terms & Conditions:
Remuneration & Time:
£500 per day, working 2 days per week on-site (Core weekday hours to be agreed). Flat daily rate inclusive of all travel expenses.
Tax Status:
Strictly Outside IR35. Executed via a Business-to-Business (B2B) Services Agreement.
Notice Period:
14 days' written notice by either party.
Equipment:
Consultant must provide their own laptop, mobile phone, and professional indemnity insurance.
About the Opportunity:
The Chairman of the boutique 40-bed nursing home in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an elite social care consultant to spearhead an operational turnaround.
The home is led by a newly promoted Care Home Manager who possesses an exceptional clinical background, excellent attitude, and strong internal loyalty, but lacks commercial command and turnaround experience. The successful candidate will act as an executive mentor and turnaround director to stabilise operations, implement robust compliance frameworks, and drive commercial viability.

Core Objectives & Responsibilities:
Executive Mentorship & Commercial Upskilling
- Provide hands-on coaching to the newly appointed Manager to transition them into a commercially minded leader.
- Teach the manager to control key operational indicators, including labour costs (agency elimination), occupancy pipeline management, and fee-versus-dependency assessments.
CQC Single Assessment Framework Implementation
- Rapidly embed robust governance, audit, and quality assurance frameworks aligned with the latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) Quality Statements.
- Oversee the creation and execution of a dynamic Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
Occupancy Recovery & Stakeholder Relations
- Rebuild trust and re-establish professional working relationships with Stoke-on-Trent City Council, local Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), and social work teams.
- Optimise the enquiry-to-admission sales pipeline to rapidly improve occupancy and revenue.

Candidate Profile & Requirements:
We require a high-calibre strategist who is comfortable "rolling up their sleeves" and commanding authority.
Proven Track Record:
Demonstrable success in social care turnarounds, moving homes from distressed states to "Good" CQC ratings.
Senior Experience:
Must have operated at a Regional Manager, Operations Director, or Executive Consultant level within the elderly nursing care sector. Experience as a former CQC inspector is highly desirable.
Commercial Acumen:
Exceptional understanding of care home P&Ls, agency staffing reduction, and local authority/ICB funding frameworks in the West Midlands.
Mentorship Skills:
A natural coach capable of building confidence in an internal promotion without creating over-dependence.
