Role Overview
You will play an important role in our school community, working alongside dedicated colleagues to ensure the smooth and effective running of Wellington. Your contribution will directly support pupils, staff, and visitors every day, and you will have access to development opportunities that help you grow in your career.
The Health Centre
The Health Centre is central to the College’s commitment to pupil wellbeing, offering a round-the-clock service in which clinical care and thoughtful pastoral support go hand in hand. We are seeking a registered Nursing Sister to join this collaborative team, bringing sound judgement, compassion, and a reassuring presence to the care of pupils, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessment and treatment for illness and injury
- First aid and emergency response
- Management of pupils with physical, emotional, or long-term needs
- Delivery of specialist health provision, including care relating to asthma and diabetes, travel health, vaccinations, and sexual health
- Ensuring each pupil receives appropriate advice, monitoring, and onward support

Collaboration and Coordination
- Working closely with the College Medical Officer, GP team, boarding Houses, safeguarding and wellbeing colleagues, parents, and external healthcare professionals
- Coordinating responsive, confidential, and individual-centered care
- Balancing competing priorities within a busy Health Centre, including periods of independent working, and recognizing when timely escalation is needed
Skills and Qualifications
- Reflective, highly organized practitioner
- Strong commitment to evidence-based nursing, careful clinical documentation, and safe medicines management
- Clear understanding of professional boundaries, safeguarding, and infection-control practice
- Ability to communicate calmly and sensitively in urgent or distressing situations
