Nurture Teacher - Lowton / Wigan
Location: Lowton / Wigan area
Salary/Rate: £26-£32 per hour
Contract: Flexible / Part-time / Full-time

Nurture Teacher - SEND / SEMH / EBSA
Are you an experienced teacher who wants more time to focus on the individual needs of the young people you work with?
At SEND Inclusion Support, our Nurture Teachers work with pupils who are currently unable to access mainstream education due to SEND, SEMH, EBSA, anxiety or other barriers to attendance and engagement.
We are expanding our Nurture Pathway across the Lowton, Wigan, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Atherton, Leigh, Tyldesley and Hindley areas.
This is an opportunity to use your teaching experience in a different way - delivering bespoke 1:1 education built around the individual pupil.
The Role
You Will
- Deliver 1:1 or small-group education
- Plan and deliver engaging, individualised sessions
- Adapt learning around the pupil's needs, interests and starting point
- Build a trusting relationship before expecting academic progress
- Support confidence, engagement and emotional wellbeing
- Help pupils develop the skills they need to move towards their next stage of education
- Work alongside families and other professionals
- Maintain appropriate records and provide feedback on progress

Our Bespoke Nurture Curriculum
You won't be expected to create everything from scratch.
Our Nurture Teachers have access to our own bespoke Nurture Curriculum - a semi-formal curriculum designed specifically for pupils who may be unable to access mainstream education.
It provides structure and progression while linking into the National Curriculum and formal education pathways where appropriate.
This gives teachers the flexibility to personalise learning while having a clear framework and resources behind them.
You Won't Be Working Alone
Although sessions may take place in the pupil's home or community, our Nurture Teachers are never left to work in isolation.
We hold termly Nurture Teacher Days, bringing our teachers together to share ideas, discuss practice, reflect on their work and support one another.

About You
We're looking for an experienced teacher who:
- Holds QTS or has substantial relevant teaching experience
- Has experience working with SEND and/or SEMH
- Is confident delivering 1:1 education
- Can adapt teaching to individual needs
- Is calm, patient and consistent
- Understands the barriers that can prevent a pupil from accessing education
- Can work independently while being part of a wider professional team
