Nurture Teachers - Secondary SEMH School
Location: Hounslow/Hillingdon area
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-time
HAYS Education is working in partnership with a specialist Secondary SEMH school seeking dedicated and compassionate Nurture Teachers to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to support young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs who require a nurturing and therapeutic approach to learning.
The Role
As a Nurture Teacher, you will work with small groups of secondary-aged pupils, delivering tailored learning opportunities that promote academic progress, emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive behaviour. You will create a safe, supportive environment where students can develop confidence, build relationships, and re-engage with education.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning and emotional needs.
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that promotes wellbeing and positive outcomes.
- Support students in developing social, emotional, and communication skills.
- Work collaboratively with therapists, support staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and contribute to individual education plans.

The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, SEND, or challenging behaviours.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach to supporting vulnerable learners.
