Nurture Teaching Assistant - Autism & Complex Needs
Location: Disley, Stockport
Pay: £92.63-£114 per day
Contract: Full-Time | Temp-to-Perm
Start: ASAP

A specialist SEND school in Disley is looking for an experienced Nurture Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to a pupil with autism and complex additional needs.
You'll become a familiar, consistent presence - someone who learns what helps this young person feel safe, communicate, regulate and gradually become more confident within education.
Get to Know the Pupil, Not Just the Diagnosis
No two autistic young people experience the world in exactly the same way.
You'll take time to understand this pupil's individual communication style, sensory needs, triggers, interests and strengths.
You'll begin recognising the signs that they're becoming overwhelmed.
You'll learn which strategies help them regulate.
And you'll use that knowledge to make school feel more predictable, manageable and accessible.
Your Support Will Include
- Providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Helping the pupil access learning at an appropriate pace.
- Supporting communication and social interaction.
- Creating structure around routines and transitions.
- Recognising and responding to sensory and emotional needs.
- Supporting emotional regulation and reducing anxiety.
- Encouraging engagement without creating unnecessary pressure.
- Helping develop confidence and greater independence.
- Working towards individual and EHCP outcomes.
- Collaborating closely with teachers and the wider specialist SEND team.

Could You Be Their Consistent Person?
We're looking for someone with previous experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, Learning Support Assistant, HLTA or specialist support professional.
Experience supporting autistic children or young people with complex SEND would be particularly valuable.

- Calm and emotionally consistent.
- Patient when progress takes time.
- Confident adapting your approach around individual needs.
- Comfortable supporting emotional regulation.
- Observant enough to recognise subtle communication and changes in behaviour.
- Able to build trust while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Resilient when days don't go according to plan.
- Committed to encouraging independence rather than creating dependence.
