Hiring: NVH Benchmarking Consultant — PHEV Program | 15+ Years Experience

Affluent Technology is looking for an independent NVH Consultant/SME to lead and technically govern the end-to-end benchmarking of competitor PHEV vehicles — from test planning through to actionable engineering targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define benchmarking scope, competitor set, and test matrix across EV mode, engine-on/hybrid mode, mode transitions, and charging conditions
  • Prepare test protocols for pass-by noise, interior/exterior sound quality, powertrain NVH (ICE + e-motor + generator), e-axle whine, driveline shunt/clunk, road & wind noise
  • Own PHEV-specific NVH domains: engine start/stop transients, e-motor/inverter switching noise, mode-transition shift quality & torque handover, regenerative braking NVH, masking effects between EV and ICE-dominant modes
  • Define sound quality metrics (loudness, sharpness, roughness, tonality) for cabin acoustic benchmarking
  • Review test setup, calibration & DAQ configuration; personally verify instrumentation on the test floor; witness key test sessions
  • Validate post-processing methodology (order tracking, Campbell diagrams, waterfall/FFT/octave band analysis) and resolve discrepancies between data and expected physics
  • Experience in Blocked Forces calculations
  • Define and calibrate subjective jury evaluation protocols and correlate them with objective test data

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What We're Looking For:

  • 15+ years in NVH engineering, with a core hands-on testing background — career must have started in on-floor testing (sensor mounting, DAQ setup, on-vehicle/on-dyno work), not purely CAE, reporting, or managerial NVH roles
  • Demonstrated PHEV/HEV/e-axle NVH experience — not pure ICE-only background
  • Strong grasp of e-motor electromagnetic noise (cogging torque, slot harmonics, inverter PWM orders) and hybrid transmission architectures (DHT, e-CVT, P0–P4)
  • Deep fundamentals in acoustics, vibration theory, modal analysis, TPA, order tracking, FFT/octave analysis, and psychoacoustic metrics
  • Working knowledge of NVH standards (ISO 362, ISO 5128, SAE J1477/J2823)
  • Proven track record leading structured competitive vehicle benchmarking programs at an OEM or Tier-1/testing house
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot test-floor issues (sensor drift, ground loops, mounting resonance) from direct hands-on experience
