About the Role

This secondment opportunity is open to applicants currently employed by the following Police Forces - Merseyside, GMP, Cumbria, Lancashire, North Wales, or Cheshire Police only.

The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit is a collaborative multi-agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the North West Region.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist team at the forefront of the fight against serious and organised crime. Using a range of covert tactics and innovative investigative techniques, you will play a vital role in disrupting and dismantling some of the region's most harmful organised crime groups. Working alongside highly skilled colleagues and partner agencies, your efforts will directly contribute to protecting communities from harm and bringing the most serious offenders to justice.

PIP 1 – PIP 2 Pathway Role

Successful applicants will be required to sit the NIE and begin the PIP 2 pathway within two years of taking up the role.

Role Overview

The NWROCU leads the policing response across the region posed by serious and organised crime in Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, and North Wales. The NWROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the North West region to deliver the Government’s serious and organised Crime strategy and to protect communities from harm.

Employment Details

  • The post is subject to an initial secondment of two years, reviewable based on continuous funding and performance.
  • Successful applicants working within NWROCU will be subject to MV (Management Vetting) and SC (Security Clearance) prior to taking up post.
  • In cases where the commute to work is in excess of the applicant’s current commute, the excess travel will be paid.

Application Requirements

  • All applications must be supported by the Home Force support. The level of support required must comply with local Force policy, such as whether support is required at ACC level and HR Support.
  • Before starting an application, applicants must download the NWROCU secondment support form, ensure it is completed in full, and then upload it to their application.
  • Applicants will be prompted, and applications will not proceed until this has been completed.
