Detective Inspector – Covert Operations Manager

North West Regional Organised Crime Unit
This secondment opportunity is open to substantive Inspectors currently employed by the following Police Forces - Merseyside, GMP, Cumbria, Lancashire, North Wales, or Cheshire Police only.
About the Role
The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit is a collaborative multi-agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the North West Region.
As Detective Inspector - Covert Operations Manager, you will shape undercover online policing across the North West, protecting communities through innovative tactics, exceptional leadership, and the highest standards of integrity. This is a unique opportunity to influence regional and national undercover online policing while leading highly skilled officers in some of the most challenging investigations, with a key focus on CSAE and protecting the most vulnerable in our communities.
The NWROCU leads the policing response across the region posed by serious and organised crime in Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, and North Wales. The NWROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the North West region to deliver the Government’s serious and organised Crime strategy and to protect communities from harm.

Key Responsibilities
- Shape undercover online policing across the North West

- Focus on CSAE and protecting the most vulnerable in our communities
Requirements
- Initial secondment of two years, reviewable based on continuous funding and performance
- Must be PIP 2 Investigative Manager/Supervisor accredited
- A8 Covert Operations Manager accreditation desirable
- Successful applicants will be subject to MV (Management Vetting) and SC (Security Clearance) prior to taking up post
- Must hold valid in-date Officer Safety/First Aid training or be able to undertake upon application
