North West Regional Organised Crime Unit
The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit is a collaborative multi-agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the North West Region.

About SaferCash
Since 2008, SaferCash has been a partnership between the NPCC and the British Security Industry Association, aimed at tackling the threats posed by CVIT, ATM, and other physical crime targeting the financial industry. SaferCash serves as a liaison between the Financial Industry and Law Enforcement, facilitating partnership working and intelligence sharing.
Approved by the Home Office and endorsed by the NPCC, SaferCash is a not-for-profit organisation that seeks to provide the Police with a bespoke intelligence platform, from analysing cross-border offending to linking crimes, assisting in identifying OCGs, and identifying emerging threats and future hotspot offending locations. Through membership contributions, SaferCash funds 5 Police Staff posts, including a field intelligence officer in GMP, alongside 2 National Industry Liaison Officers who form SaferCash’s National Control Centre.
Role Description
The SaferCash NW Regional Analyst will be embedded in the NWROCU. They will work in partnership with the NPCC and the British Security Industry Association. The appointed individual will work with the already established departments within the Regional Organised Crime Units, the Head of SaferCash, and the SaferCash analytical team based across the West Midlands and London regions to deliver effective intelligence research and analytical products in respect of Organised Acquisitive Crime (OAC) targeting CViT, ATM, and Financial Institutions.

Responsibilities
- Production of tactical and strategic intelligence products to identify emerging trends and OCGs engaged in CVIT and ATM criminality.
- Providing a regional overview in these specific areas of business and industry initiatives to law enforcement and trusted partner agencies.
- Adding value to the prevention and investigations already being undertaken at force, regional, and national level.
About NWROCU
The NWROCU leads the policing response across the region posed by serious and organised crime in Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, and North Wales. The NWROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the North West region to deliver the Government’s serious and organised Crime strategy and to protect communities from harm.
Further Developments
Further developments in NWROCU’s capabilities are anticipated in the future. Applications received for Operational roles that require mandatory Officer Safety/First Aid training must hold valid in-date training or be able to undertake upon application.
Contract Details
- The post has a two-year funding and the fixed-term contract would end on 31st December 2028. This is reviewable and may be extended subject to further funding being granted.
- The Grade of this role has been determined using the Merseyside HAY procedure and has been afforded a Merseyside Grade E. This equates to a salary range of £33,603 - £39,276. Successful applicants from other Regional Forces will be paid a salary within this pay range. These are full-time roles working ‘flexitime’ however, applicants must be aware that there is a requirement for the post holders to be flexible in relation to working hours.

Successful applicants working within NWROCU will be subject to MV (Management Vetting) and SC (Security Clearance) prior to taking up post.
In cases where the commute to work is in excess of the applicant’s current commute, the excess travel will be paid.
