The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit

The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit is a collaborative multi-agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the North West Region.

The TEI Deployment Specialist Role

The TEI Deployment Specialist role will involve deploying, testing, researching, and developing covert technical solutions to support policing operations. This role is aimed at those that have a genuine interest in technology and enjoy learning about new and improved technical assets with an eagerness to learn new skills, showing a willingness to take on a technical challenge. The role holder will be offered opportunities to undertake ongoing specialist development.

About the NWROCU

The NWROCU leads the policing response across the region posed by serious and organized crime in Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, and North Wales. The NWROCU provides the vital link from national capabilities and expertise to local policing and knowledge, enabling the North West region to deliver the Government’s serious and organized Crime strategy and to protect communities from harm.

Role Details

  • The post is subject to an initial secondment of two years, reviewable based on continuous funding and performance.
  • Further developments in NWROCU’s capabilities are anticipated in the future.
  • Applications received for Operational roles that require mandatory Officer Safety/First Aid training must hold valid in date training or be able to undertake upon application.

Salary and Working Conditions

  • The Grade of this role has been determined using the Merseyside HAY procedure and has been afforded a Merseyside Grade F. This equates to a salary range of £40,383 - £47,046. Successful applicants from other Regional Forces will be paid a salary within this pay range.
  • These are full-time roles working 'flexitime', however, applicants must be aware that there is a requirement for the post holders to be flexible in relation to working hours.

Recruitment and Selection

  • Successful applicants working within NWROCU will be subject to MV (Management Vetting) and SC (Security Clearance) prior to taking up post.
  • In cases where the commute to work is in excess of the applicant’s current commute, the excess travel will be paid.
  • NWROCU is committed to ensuring that they have a workforce that represents the communities they serve, and they are keen to attract applications from underrepresented groups.

  • All applications must be supported by the Home Force support, the level of support required must comply with local Force policy e.g. whether support is required at ACC level and HR Support.
  • Before starting an application, applicants must download the NWROCU secondment support form, ensure it is completed in full, and then upload it to their application.
  • Applicants will be prompted and applications will not proceed until this has been completed.
