Mid-Level O-RAN rApp & xApp Developer
AWGT LTD is seeking a mid-level O-RAN rApp & xApp Developer to join our O-RAN engineering team. This role spans software development across both the Non-RT RIC (rApps) and Near-RT RIC (xApps) layers of the O-RAN architecture, building intelligent applications that automate and optimise radio access network behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and test rApps for the Non-RT RIC / SMO layer, using the R1 interface to consume data and issue A1 policies to the Near-RT RIC.
- Design, develop and test xApps for the Near-RT RIC, using the E2 interface to implement near-real-time control loops.
- Integrate rApps and xApps with SMO services, data pipelines and data layers (e.g. the R-NIB).
- Collaborate with RAN and network engineers to translate use cases into working applications.
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test and deployment of RIC applications.
- Ensure compliance with relevant O-RAN Alliance specifications (A1, E2, O1, R1) and coding standards.
- Participate in code reviews, unit/integration testing, and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues across the RIC platforms and application stack.

Required Skills & Experience
- 3-5 years’ software development experience, with strong programming skills in Python and Go.
- Solid understanding of the O-RAN architecture: SMO, Non-RT RIC, Near-RT RIC, and the A1, O1, R1 and E2 interfaces, including E2 Service Models.
- Knowledge of 5G NR RAN protocols and 3GPP specifications.
- Experience with Near-RT RIC Message Routing and Shared Data Layer (SDL).
- Experience working with multiple databases (e.g. Redis, Influx, MariaDB).
- Hands-on experience with the O-RAN SMO/Non-RT and Near-RT RIC platforms.
- Experience developing, packaging and deploying containerised applications with Docker, Kubernetes and Helm.
- Working knowledge of REST APIs and microservices architecture.
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering or a related field.
Candidates need to be available to work Monday to Friday on-site.
