Location: Durrington, Worthing
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37
Salary: From £35,100 based on skills and experience
About the role:
The purpose of the OAM (Operational Asset Management) Asset Data Analyst role is to lead and drive improvements in Southern Water's asset data quality, ensuring asset information is trusted, governed and fit for operational and strategic decision making.
The role will take ownership of key asset data improvement initiatives, with a particular focus on Below Ground assets. Working across Operational Asset Management, GIS and business stakeholders, the successful candidate will identify opportunities, define solutions and drive the delivery of sustainable improvements that strengthen the relationship between Maximo and GIS.
This role is not solely focused on analysis. It requires someone who can influence stakeholders, challenge existing practices and act as a catalyst for continuous improvement in asset data management.
What you will be responsible for:
The OAM Asset Data Analyst will act as a subject matter expert for asset master data and will be accountable for identifying, prioritising and driving asset data improvements across Southern Water.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading initiatives to improve the quality, completeness and integrity of Below Ground asset and location data across Maximo and GIS.
- Acting as the primary liaison between OAM and GIS teams to define and maintain an integrated asset and location data model and management of change process.
- Identifying data quality risks, root causes and improvement opportunities, then developing and driving corrective actions through to implementation.
- Establishing and monitoring asset data quality measures, reporting performance trends and driving accountability with business stakeholders.
- Shaping and influencing business processes to improve the capture, maintenance and governance of asset data at source.
- Driving adoption of Maximo asset data products, including Asset Data Manager, Asset Templates, Condition Monitoring and Safety Plans.
- Leading analysis activities associated with data migration, enrichment and transformation to support Maximo and future business requirements.
- Collaborating with operational, engineering, GIS and digital teams to ensure asset data supports operational efficiency, regulatory compliance and investment planning.
- Using data storytelling and visualisation techniques to communicate insights, influence decisions and secure stakeholder buy-in for improvement initiatives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
