Obsolescence Manager
Dorset | upto £65,000 + Benefits | Permanent | Hybrid
We are working with a leading specialist aviation and aerospace organisation to recruit an experienced Obsolescence Manager to lead and develop their Obsolescence Management function.
This is a senior technical opportunity for an experienced aviation professional to take ownership of a business-critical function, supporting the continued airworthiness, availability, safety and operational performance of a specialist aircraft fleet.
The Opportunity
As Obsolescence Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing an effective Obsolescence Management System, proactively identifying risks and ensuring appropriate solutions are delivered across aircraft, engines, components and mission equipment.
You will work closely with OEMs, repair organisations, design authorities and internal stakeholders, providing expert technical advice and ensuring that obsolescence risks are understood, managed and resolved effectively.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced aviation professional looking to take ownership of a specialist function within a technically challenging and operationally important environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Obsolescence Management function.
- Develop and implement the organisation's Obsolescence Management System and associated processes.
- Identify, assess and mitigate obsolescence risks affecting aircraft, engines, components and mission equipment.
- Ensure continued compliance with relevant EASA, UK CAA, UK MAA and FAA requirements.
- Maintain effective compliance monitoring and assurance processes.
- Work collaboratively with OEMs, repair organisations, design authorities and other key suppliers to develop effective technical solutions.
- Support the Company's Safety Management System (SMS) and ensure potential flight-safety issues are identified and appropriately reported.
- Manage audit findings, non-conformances and safety investigation actions through to effective corrective action.
- Provide specialist consultancy and technical guidance on obsolescence matters across the wider organisation.
- Support the delivery of operational and financial performance targets.
- Lead, mentor and develop colleagues within the function.
- Travel domestically and internationally when required.
- Respond to urgent operational requirements outside normal working hours when necessary.

What We're Looking For
We're keen to speak with experienced aviation and aerospace professionals who can demonstrate:
- Proven experience in Continuing Airworthiness Management (CAMO) and/or Obsolescence Management.
- Strong knowledge of EASA, UK CAA, UK Military and FAA regulations.
- Experience working within a regulated aviation or aerospace environment.
- A sound understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
- Knowledge of relevant ISO standards, including ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 27001.
- A relevant technical qualification such as:
- EASA/CAA Part 66 B1 or B2 licence;
- Degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering; or
- Equivalent relevant industry experience.
- Strong technical problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to lead, influence and mentor others.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational skills, resilience and commercial awareness.
- SC security clearance eligibility would be advantageous.

Dorset-Based | Hybrid Working
The position is based at the organisation's Head Office in Dorset, and regular attendance at the site will be an important part of the role.
Given the seniority of the position and the level of collaboration involved, the successful candidate will need to be comfortable spending a significant amount of time at HQ for stakeholder meetings, technical discussions, team engagement and operational commitments.
As a result, the ideal candidate will be based in Dorset or within a reasonable commuting distance, although candidates who are willing and able to travel regularly to the HQ will also be considered.
There is flexibility to work from home where appropriate, providing a balance between on-site collaboration and remote working. Some domestic and international travel may also be required.
