Led by an experienced practitioner with over 20 years of nursing background, including eight years in occupational health and five years in senior clinical leadership, the service combines clinical expertise with strategic insight. Parnassus is committed to helping employers build healthier, safer, and more productive workplaces through tailored, evidence-based occupational health solutions. Services include support with sickness absence management, management referrals, fitness for work assessments, health surveillance, and workplace wellbeing initiatives. Role Description
The Occupational Health Advisor will provide day-to-day occupational health support to a single client organization, delivering evidence-based assessments, advice, and interventions. This is a part-time (1-2 days per week) on-site role in Burton-on-Trent which involves conducting fitness for work assessments, managing sickness absence cases, and undertaking health surveillance activities aligned with regulatory and organizational requirements. The role includes liaising with managers and employees, preparing clear and timely occupational health reports, and supporting management referrals with practical recommendations. The Occupational Health Advisor will also contribute to health and safety initiatives, workplace wellbeing programs, and policy development to promote a positive health culture. The position requires professional autonomy, sound clinical judgement, and the ability to build constructive relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

- Strong expertise in Occupational Health and OHS, including clinical assessment, risk evaluation, and evidence-based advice.
- Experience in Sickness Absence Management, Case Management and health surveillance with the ability to provide clear recommendations to employers and employees.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety principles and relevant UK workplace health legislation and guidance.
- Registered Nurse with a formal occupational health qualification (e.g., diploma or degree in occupational health).
- Excellent communication, report-writing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work sensitively and confidentially.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the capacity to manage a varied caseload independently.
- Experience working with businesses or public sector organisations, particularly in workplace health and wellbeing, is an advantage.
- Competence in using clinical and administrative IT systems, and willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
