Job title: Occupational Health Case Manager
Location: Tewkesbury (Hybrid)
Salary: £28,000 to £30,000 per year
Status: Full-time, permanent
Working Hours: Mon- Fri - 37.5 hours

We are seeking a Occupational Health Case Manager to join our team and support employees and organisations in achieving positive health and workplace outcomes. As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with employees, managers, HR teams, and healthcare professionals to deliver effective case management solutions. This role offers variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to contribute to improved health, wellbeing, and business performance through proactive and person-centred support.
Purpose of Role:
To deliver case management though the identification of possible reasons for ill health or injury and considering the most appropriate intervention needed to reduce the risk of employee being absent from work and the need for the employee to undertake modified duties.
As a Case Manager, you’re not just handling cases; you’re shaping outcomes. Your insights help reduce absence, guide line managers and HR, and ensure employees can return to work safely and confidently. Every day is fast paced, engaging, and meaningful, with a combination of telephone and video consultations and collaboration across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish the current reason for ill health/injury and identify any underlying cause or contributory risk factors
- To be instrumental in the multidisciplinary assessment process by ensuring information is gained sufficient to assess: personal and occupational risk factors
- To effectively communicate to the employee, the multifactorial issues associated with the current episode of ill health/injury and how they can personally address the risk factors within their locus of control
- Where required access the most appropriate treatment intervention via the NHS or the private sector using the most effective method of funding applicable for the medical condition
- To help the customers line management/HR/Health and Safety managers understand the implications of the assessment, and make clear the recommendations and likelihood of success and any associated cost without breaching the ICO requirements (processing of sensitive personal data.
- To achieve the critical success factors within the various aspects of Case Management including: reduction in sickness absence; reduction in modified duties; minimisation of any cost of 3rd party suppliers including the costs within the Healthcare Plans; prompt return to normal duties or where appropriate alternative duties or exit from the business; case closure to be agreed when resolution complete.
- To work seamlessly with the onsite Functional Health Team to both take referrals and to provide tasks for them to add a three dimensional approach to the case but specifically to review objective measurements where appropriate.

Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience communicating with employees, customers, or stakeholders via telephone and virtual platforms, demonstrating effective listening, empathy, and professionalism.
- Understanding of the impact of ill health, injury, or disability on an individual's ability to function effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and manage sensitive conversations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess information, identify obstacles, and develop practical solutions.
- Knowledge of data protection principles, including GDPR and confidentiality requirements when handling personal and sensitive information.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records, and deliver a high standard of service.
Desirable:
- Experience or desire to work within a case management or occupational health setting.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and coordinating support from a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience gathering, reviewing, and analysing information to identify barriers, risks, and appropriate solutions to support positive outcomes.
- Experience supporting individuals experiencing ill health, injury, disability, or other circumstances affecting their ability to work.

Qualifications and Training
Essential:
- Education of Degree level or above
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Desirable:
- Relevant experience in a healthcare, wellbeing, rehabilitation, or behavioural health discipline, such as Physiotherapy, Nursing, Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Nutrition, Physiology, Occupational Therapy, or equivalent.
- Proven practical experience supporting individuals through periods of ill health or injury, recognising that relevant experience, empathy, and problem-solving capability are equally valued alongside formal qualifications.
